The Glenlivet Ice Serve

The ‘Ice Serve’ was just part of a suite of design work aimed at bringing enriched experiences and a cohesive look to Glenlivet’s on-trade presence using the recently introduced graphic ‘arch’ device as a structural equity.

Original concept visual

Born out of the understanding that consumer’s typically drink their favourite tipple one of 3 ways...

  • - ‘straight up’
  • - with a splash of chilled water or
  • - over ice

..the accessory brought theatre and ownability to the serve, sitting atop the glass of golden liquid.

The vessel contained an oversized cloudless ice block. A pair of integrated tongs, their arched shape facilitating removal, are pulled from the lid and used to handle the block directly.

The lid incorporated an ice stamp which could be used to emboss the brand’s mark into the ice and accelerate the melt-water creation process.

Should the consumer only desire chilled water, this could be then be strained through the holes in the lid left by the tongs.

The arch detail found its way into other on-trade touchpoints including both practical (trays, decanters etc) and presentation elements (glorifiers)
