Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru primary bottle

Bombay Sapphire, owners of the world-renowned blue gin bottle, sought to extend their range with a super-premium offering that came to be known as Premier Cru.

The task for the design of the new structure was to retain the critical elements of the brand structural architecture, i.e.

- the facetted square footprint

- the proud label arch

- the swept shoulder profile

- the famous ‘i-strip’ label

and create an instantly recognisable structure with clear elevation over the Bombay core range.

Some very subtle 3D CAD work was undertaken (all with an eye on volume accuracy) to fine tune the correct proportion and the width of the facets in order to deliver an even greater sense of refinement.

A deep, facetted punt was introduced along with a window framing channel and a new cork-mouth neck finish. The design of a simple metalised stopper (suited to current production handling) was also completed.

The intention for the range of releases is to focus on a key ingredient; bringing it to the fore within the blend. The necessary level of finesse and craft was delivered by Master Distiller, Dr Anne Brock. The second release in the Premier Cru lineup was Tuscan Juniper.
